PLANTAIN (Lancelot or Tonic)

   

It is a native herb to several areas of North America which is a perennial that works well with grasses in a mix. It is adaptable to climates up to over 3500 feet. It is seasonally drought tolerant, will live through cold winters and persists in high traffic areas. Buckhorn is good for providing high levels of calcium, cobalt, phosphorous and copper. Recommended for forage, erosion control and land reclamation. There are two types of plantain – Lancelot or Tonic. Lancelot is more cold tolerant of the two plantains.

Time of Year to Plant: April to May for spring planting; August to September for fall planting
Type of Soil: It will tolerate a broad range of soil types
Pounds Per Acre: 8 to 10 pounds per acre alone or 3 to 4 pounds per acre as part of a mix
Crude Protein: approximately 17%
